|St. Michaels Concours d'Elegance | Marc Castelli
September 30, 2007 10 am - 4 pm
It is hard to believe Fall is just around the corner! We want to alert you to an upcoming event you may wish to put on your calendar – the first annual St. Michaels Concours d’Elegance Invitational hosted by the Inn at Perry Cabin on September 30, 2007.
Last year, Marc’s painting of a 1927 Bugatti Type 39A, Dreaming With Eyes Open, caught the eye of car aficionado and friend Judge John North. Some of you may remember it was through the Judge’s good graces in the early days of Marc’s career that he was afforded access to one of his favorite subjects, the Chesapeake Bay log canoes. So when the Judge asked Marc to participate in the first Concours d’Elegance in our region, he agreed without hesitation. Marc’s painting of a 1932 Bentley 8-Litre (from the Petronis collection) will be auctioned off to raise funds for the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula and will be used as the event poster and program cover.
The event promises to be a splendid affair. Rolls Royce, the Blackhawk Collection, EuroMotorcars (visit
www.stmichaelsconcours.com for a complete list) are sponsoring the exposition on the waterside grounds and in the public rooms of the elegant Inn at Perry Cabin. The entire facility has been reserved so attendees may enjoy a fusion of art, fashion and more than 50 outstanding examples of rolling “sculpture” from the Golden Age of motoring (1900-1940).
The Gallery was asked to create an exhibit of Marc’s work to be showcased in the Morning Room just off the Main Lobby. Apropos of the event, we will be presenting Marc’s racing vessels – new America’s Cup watercolors and, of course, his Chesapeake Bay Log Canoe paintings. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the paintings will be earmarked for the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula.
Collectors are being given advance notice of this event to enable you to reserve tickets now. Marc and I want to assure you the full price of your ticket goes directly to our local American Red Cross. We hope you will join us for what promises to be the perfect autumn event. What could be more inviting – a collection of the world’s great cars, an afternoon on the Miles River at the Inn at Perry Cabin, and a special exhibit of watercolor’s by one of the Chesapeake’s most noted painters.
