| I paint for sensations: the sensation of seeing two colors come together and like the piano tuner's fork resonate in perfect harmony; the sensation of losing myself in the process of making a painting; the visceral feel of paint sliding under a brush or stick or hand; the giddy body sensation of having created an image that feels just right. I have found that my success as a painter has been directly proportionate to the passion I feel for the subject. Whether landscape, still-life or figure it is my emotional connection to the source that propels and compels me. My paintings are manifestations of these passionate emotions, but it is the experience of painting that truly touches, inspires, and motivates my life. |
